We look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
WE ARE SORRY TO ANNOUNCE THAT PARKRUN, YOGA AND BIRDWATCHING WALKS ARE NOT TAKING PLACE IN THE PARK AT THE MOMENT DUE TO COVID-19. THE TOILET IS ALSO CLOSED, FOR THE SAME REASON, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THE COUNCIL HAS ALSO DECIDED TO LOCK THE GEORGE V MEMORIAL GARDEN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, AS IT WAS ATTRACTING TOO MANY PEOPLE WHO WERE IGNORING INSTRUCTIONS NOT TO GATHER IN LARGE GROUPS OR HOLD PARTIES AND BBQ'S. THERE ARE ALSO SOME REPAIRS NEEDED AS A RESULT OF RECENT VANDALISM. THE FRIENDS ARE CONTINUING TO CARRY OUT GARDENING AND WATERING DUTIES DURING THE LOCKDOWN. HOWEVER, PLEASE CONTINUE TO VISIT THE PARK AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FRESH AIR AND WIDE OPEN SPACES, ALL OF WHICH ARE FREE TO USE - BUT KEEP YOUR DISTANCE TO A MINIMUM OF 2 METRES APART IF POSSIBLE.
AFTER A SUMMER WHERE ALL OUR ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING FUN DAY AND MUSICAL EVENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED, WE ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE TWO NEW EVENTS IN CANONS PARK:
LITTER PICK, SUNDAY 13 SEPTEMBER 2020, 10am to 12pm. Many thanks to all who attended this event! We collected around 30 bags of litter and abandoned clothing, camping gear and mattresses. SUNDAY 20 SEPTEMBER THIS EVENT WILL GO AHEAD WITH NEW GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. EACH TOUR PARTY WILL CONSIST OF A MAXIMUM OF FIVE VISITORS AND ONE TOUR LEADER. 'OPEN HOUSE DAY' IN CANONS PARK - we participate in Open House Weekend, a London-wide event organised by Open House London If you would like to know a little more about the history of Canons Park, why not come along to one of our FREE half-hour tours around the park, starting every hour on the hour from 10am to 4pm (last tour).
Meet at the Friends' stall at the Good Friends Cafe at the heart of Canons Park, 5 minutes before each tour. From 2pm Stuart Cawthorne, from St Lawrence Church, will be hosting a small exhibition about the church and its association with the history of Edgware.
From 3pm we welcome the return of historian Dr Aaron Graham, who will lead more academic tours, aimed at age group 14+. General tours will also be available during these time slots.
No fee, no need to book. Social distancing will be observed.
We are also seeking volunteers for our gardening club, to work in the George V Memorial Garden (see Events).
These activities are run by Harrow Council or local volunteers and are all cancelled until further notice:
